Comment on "Beer Off"

There are some fine points made in this article that I agree with, such as giving money to the homeless and some I don't agree with like the stimulus money.
As far as the homeless go the people we see everyday are homeless, but they don't represent the majority of homeless who are women with children and the mentally ill. These clowns at every intersection are just bombs; they walk back and forth holding signs with stupid saying trying to get you to give them a dollar. At one time I did give money to them on a regular bases, that stopped when I tried to get one to cut grass for me for $40 for about two hours work, was told I can make more than that just standing here. If you can walk back and forth at a intersection for 7 or 8 hours a day then you can get a damn job!
As far as stimulus money the part that went to people on social security or disability then they deserve it. The Medicare system have what they call a Gap period, its when people on Medicare each year medicines reach $2,400.00 each year which in some cases is the first month you have to pay the next $2,600 before Medicare pays for more medicines. If you see a old or disabled person one time in C VS or Walgreen's writing a check for $800.00 when a lot of them only make $600.00 or so a month, then you know the $250.00 that president Obama's stimulus packet gave them should have been $1,000.00 or more. They need it GM, AIG, and the rest of them don't.

BEWARE OF FACTIONS OR THE U.A.W

"Among the numerous advantages promised by a well constructed Union, none deserves to be more accurately developed than its tendency to break and control the violence of faction. The friend of popular governments never finds himself so much alarmed for their character and fate, as when he contemplates their propensity to this dangerous vice…
By a faction I understand a number of citizens, whether amounting to a majority or minority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adverse to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community." (Federalist #10)
What is the real problem with General Motors is it the U.S. government, maybe it’s the bondholders or could it be the UAW? What I say is we have ourselves a faction, which two is the debate we will discuss in this commentary. The most blame should and does rest with GM, they created this situation. With all the thinking heads they should have seen this coming ten or more years ago, they saw how Toyota and others were taking over chose to ignore it. Maybe they should have looked back at Henry Ford model of selling by volume, worked for him. They also took the money around $18 billion that’s a lot of money, now the bondholders are getting money and the UAW is getting more than their fair share.
The bondholder’s maybe the only innocent group in this hold mess. All they want is a return on their investments, which is the whole concept of investing. The last offer is they will trade over $27 billion in GM bonds for a 10% stake equity stake in the new restructured company. So they are now a stumbling block, you would think they should jump right on that, who wouldn’t want 10% of a doomed company. Same as you being an investor in a lemonade stand which stopped making money in September, so for your $5,000 we are going to wait for the first blizzard remove the top and give you 10% stake come December. Why wouldn’t you jump on that?
The UAW prime example of a faction in my opinion, they are only about the good for members of their interest group. They don’t seem to care if GM goes out of business or not thus sinking the ship for both union and none union workers. They have such a strangle hold on all the auto makers, that’s why in this new deal for the $20 billion owed to the retirement fund they get 39% interest in the new restructured company vs. the bondholder’s getting 10% for $27 billion.
So it’s up to us to break and control the faction “There are two methods of curing the mischiefs of faction: the one, by removing its causes; the other, by controlling its effects.” As stated by Madison in Federalist #10, but since we can’t use these tactics also stated by Madison because it would be worse than the faction. We can if they don’t get their act together and lower their wages, lower the car prices you can sell them as volume and still make money or keep them and go to Arizona and make a bone yard next to the aircraft one. If not we can take the next step from federalist #10 by forming our own majority and buying Ford products.

Blog Stage Six

The review written by Winston was well done and some very good points were made, I would like to expand upon those points. True those that control the wealth in America are only one percent of the population. Some of those inherited wealth from relatives and some built theirs through hard work. Those people who believe there is a conspiracy to keep all the wealth in the hands of a few are really not motivated and as stated in the opening paragraph of Winston’s review are just looking for someone to blame.

Winston fail to mention possible solutions to this problem of the under privileged, I help out and add a couple which hopefully will benefit his users. First thing get off your butts and quit watching those that have and thinking, “Wish I had that” get motivated. Look at Michael Dell’s and others stories these dreams didn’t fall in their laps they had and idea and ran with it, there’s not a reason that anyone who is motivated and can stay focused on their goal can not do the same. The second thing is the stock market, invest your money let it grow without breaking your back to do it. Most people look at the stock market and make it so complicated that they never actually try it. Read a few short books take a few dollars and jump in, this is the best time for all of us that want to invest, all the stock are a bargain. So quit your excuses and get going toward making your own wealth.

Get Out of Iraq Now!

Get Out of Iraq Now!

U.S. Government look at history and get the hell out of Iraq. We really need to re-evaluate our purpose for being there. What do we seek to accomplish? Are we trying to spread democracy? Are we protecting ourselves and our future? Are we afraid to admit this may have been a personal vendetta from the past administration? Is it for the oil? Whatever the reason it doesn’t equal the value of one American life.

We as American know our way of life to be the best in the world. We like our way of life so much and we will make you take it. The democracy we love may not be for other cultures, with values based on religion our freedoms contradict the rules their religion. What may seem unfair to us is to them a perfectly fine way of life, while working in Saudi Arabia I was able to experience the culture first hand. Sometimes because something is different doesn’t make it wrong.

Freedom is a big word, what freedom are the people of Iraq hoping to gain? There are protest on the news all the time against the U.S. being in Iraq, if we are freeing them why are they protesting? Who are these people that protest, and if they want to be free why don’t they pick up a gun and fight for that freedom? I don’t think it’s right for Americans to die when there are able bodied men protesting, marching in parades, and sitting in street cafes sipping tea. Iraq was never a real threat against the U.S. military, our technology is so far ahead of what they have it could never be a threat to us. The weapons of mass destruction never existed, maybe President Bush had unfinished business with Saddam, there is at least one other person in the world that agree with me Bush and Saddam: Unfinished Business. Saddam is dead we all saw it on the internet let’s move on.

If we are there for oil, take the damn oil! Whatever happened to war the old fashion way? Even the card game, “I Declare War” if your flip card is higher you take the other person cards, let get back to that concept. If you go to war with another country you take their natural resources, women whatever. A Saudi once told me that the reason the women started wearing the covering was, when they were at war with other tribes the raiders could not distinguish the old woman from the young maiden we they kidnapped them. I don’t know how mush truth is in that statement hey it works for me. So if it’s about oil let’s get if not then let’s move on, because right now we have high gas prices and we have spent billions of our dollars for this war and they have a surplus of billions. How about we free ourselves and get out of Iraq!

Teleprompter We All Should Use Them

Beck: Obama Is A ‘Manchurian Candidate’ Because He Uses A Teleprompter — But I Use One Too

This is a critique of a commentary by Ali Frick; this article is in regards to comments made by Glen Beck of Fox News. Obama Is A "Manchurian Candidate".There are two claims being made by Mr. Beck; first that President Obama can’t speak without the teleprompter, thus insinuating that President Obama is not the orator that we all think he is and that if former President Bush had used one the attacks he would have faced. The evidences provided is the teleprompter being used at major speaking events by the president, also stated that he does his three hour radio show without one. To break down the evidences using a teleprompter when speaking of things that are important and has to be accurate is the proper way, especially when you have the Glen Becks of the world looking over your shoulder and just maybe if Bush would have used one on more occasions he would not have sounded so stupid. As for Mr. Beck saying he does his radio show without one, so what who cares if you miss speak at the worse Fox will fire you and pay you the rest of your contract and some other new station will hire you in two or three months and at best they will give you a raise for boosting ratings. As with most blow hearts if you let them keep talking they will trip themselves up, later he state that he is totally fine with using a teleprompter and that he using one from time to time, also stating that he writes all the words he say on television. If you look at the credits for his television show you will see writers listed, I wonder what they write if he is the host and write everything he said, maybe they write for the guest.

The final thing I would like to add is I have personally seem twice within twenty five feet President Obama make two speeches and I never saw the teleprompter, so if he can make a campaign speech like the one I saw without it then I’m all for it. I liken it to going to church in the south and listening to a fire and brimstone minister, can be quiet moving. What ever works to restore confidents from the American people I’m all for.

Obama High on Style Low on Substance

Editorial: Obama high on style, low on substance
Claim: President Obama address to congress lack of substance, supporting evidence: none provided. This editorial from the Dallas Morning News although very well written with many catch phrases, lacks a shred of evidence and defies logic. This article will serve the purpose for an intended audience fiscal conservatives.
This cynic mentioned things like Obama’s style, him being upbeat, optimistic, vigor and conviction, while comparing him to three of the best presidents ever Reagan, Kennedy and Roosevelt. Yet afterwards attempts to discredit the same ideas that have improved the economy under these presidents. As this opinion goes Obama’s plan came up short “Obama plan came up short – which, we suspect, is why the stock market sank further yesterday.” I’m quite sure this person knows that the stock market has been slowly falling since 2000 after Bush took office; under Clinton the stock market soared it was a time of plenty for all.
This article ask for Obama to how would we pay for all the spending, to offer a vision for balancing the budget, so he could earn credit with big-government skeptic and to speak about the possibility of a bipartisan debt commission. To this I answer the same way we always pay more tax; but what the working class need is relief now not 50 years from now. Once the country has turned around then companies and the people start to make and spend more money as a by product the government will make more from taxes on spend such as travel, fuel and income. Beside Bush double the national debt while in office. We forget about last year’s stimulus package and bailouts. Credit with big-government skeptics the definition: Somebody who doubts something is true. Thank you. Bipartisan debt commission was there one in December? We will keep using that one.
These bailout plans for some companies are good for the economy, if we allow major banks to collapse then thousands will lose jobs and homes. I agree with this article on one thing Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal speech indicating that he would refuse the governments stimulus money may be enough for the people of Louisiana to not reelect him for another term, do he not know his state always rate the lowest in just about all the negative categories such as, worst education, highest poverty, highest crime rates and the worst infrastructure of highways. Yet HE doesn’t want the help? Chances are HE doesn’t need it.
This plan will stimulate the economy with the spend on education, highway, parks and energy jobs for Americans all these things in the past have got us back on our feet. There’s not a plan that’s perfect, we have to all do our parts and get this country back on its feet.http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/editorials/stories/DN-obama_0226edi.State.Edition1.299bc31.html

Congress Retreat

The article I would like everyone one to take a gander at written by Laurie Kellman titled “Congress retreats, luxuriously”. This article points out that while deservingly so congress has been pointing the finger at corporate executes for the luxury resort retreats and lavish spends, those other four fingers on the same hand was pointing back at them and their lavish retreats. To quote, House Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson when asked about the last three day $100.000 retreat "It's serious and it's from morning till night. We've been dwelling, rightfully, on the economy." These retreats also include lobbyist although they should not talk business “lobbyists are discouraged from talking about business on behalf of their clients during the retreat.” You should read this article, because it shows both parties evoking their special privileges. Another example of the pot calling the kettle black, so please follow this links to read. http://www.statesman.com/ and http://www.statesman.com/news/content/shared-gen/ap/US_Congress/Congress_Retreat.html#
